April Update: Upcoming Events for the Summer!

Greetings everyone! We at the SF Chinatown Corps wish to apologize for the lack of updates recently. Please wait as we will try to overhaul the site over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, here is some news and information for you!

Summer Day Camp

Our summer day camp will be starting early June running for the duration of the summer until the end of the SFUSD summer break. Please come in to pick up an application! Our staff includes college students and college graduates as our teachers and high school students as assistants and volunteers. Please come in for an application! We will have snacks and meals included in the fee as well as weekly field trips. Academic subjects taught include English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Chinese, Art, and Music. We will also have occasional Community and Cultural Exploration classes! In the past, we have visited the firestation, the police station, OnLok nursing home, and many more fixtures of our community to learn about how the city is run and protected, and to learn about the Chinese culture through classes and visits with community members.


If you wish to volunteer for the Summer Day Camp, please also come in to pick up a volunteer application and for a brief interview. High School students and above, only. Letters of Recommendation available for those who satisfactorily complete the program with a minimum number of hours worked, to be determined based on how full we are with volunteers.

The Gathering: USA Western Territory Congress

The 2012 USA Western Territory Congress is still taking registration until May 1, 2012! It will take place June 7-10, 2012 in Pasadena, California. It is only $50 dollars for Adults and children are $25. Click here for more information!

Exciting New Updates!

Greetings everyone!

Here is a glimpse of some of the exciting changes and special events that are coming up.

>>Various Youth fellowships are taking place every Friday and Saturday evenings. Contact Annie Liang at for more information about this.

>>After School Tutoring by College Graduates and Students as well as High School volunteers is ongoing. Please email Annie Liang at the above email address for information on how to enroll your child.

>>We are celebrating our 125th Anniversary this year! Special guests are being invited from all over the world! Please stay tuned for the exact dates of our celebrations!

>>Interested in volunteering for the summer? We will soon be taking applications for tutors and volunteers for our Summer Day Camp program. Minimum 2 week commitment. We offer letters of recommendations and verification of hours volunteered upon working a minimum of hours (not the same as the 2 week minimum commitment). Please stay tuned for more information about the camp! This is an excellent opportunity for college applications as well as experience for jobs.

Summer Day Camp!

Our 2010 Summer Day Camp is under way and our kids are having SO much fun!

So far, we have had big trips to the SF Zoo, the Exploratorium, and Crissy Fields as well as smaller weekly field trips to local parks, the public library, and the local swimming pool. We also have had a lot of fun in our English, Social Studies, Science, Math, and Chinese classes making an early start into preparing for the next academic year.

If you want to join us for day camp, please email for more information. Camp runs from Monday to Friday (except Holidays) 9AM to 4PM. The cost is $80 per week plus a one time $10 registration fee. Financial aid available for low-income families. Lunch and snacks are provided and the cost includes admission fees for all our field trips. Extended hour care available for $10 from 8-9AM and 4-5PM.


Registration is coming out soon for this year’s 2010 Summer Day Camp!

This year’s theme is: HEROES!

Our day camp consists of academic classes in the morning including English, Social Studies/History, Math, Science, Foreign Language class, Physical Education, and MORE! We will reinforce grade school material from the previous year as well as introduce new material in preparation for the new year. We also have art and music classes and Field Trips! We also have time for fun and games!

Our program of food includes morning snack, a full balanced lunch, and an afternoon snack.


As always, Financial Assistance is available with proof of income. Please see Ann in the Social Services Office during her normal office hours for the appropriate paperwork.
